What do you get if you mix a group of sound artists, a swimming pool and a book Festival?
A one-off creative collaboration, will transform Riverside swimming pool into a unique immersive audio-visual experience never seen before in Essex.
Soundscapes both above the surface and underwater with visual projections promise to be bizarre, magical and astonishing.
The event is inspired by the novel The Drowned World by JG Ballard, which is set in a post-apocalyptic future where due to climate change the city of London has been submerged underwater and the sparsely inhabited world above has turned into a thriving tropical environment.
Joel Cahen of Wet Sounds will be joined by Chris Adam (E2V employee) and Andrew Wright of the Resonance arts collective in Chelmsford and Colchester-based sound-artist Frazer Merrick. Visuals by SDNA and lighting by Joe Lucas.
The event is supported by Ignite Chelmsford and Chelmsford City Council as part of Essex 2020.
