Managing the Transition to Net-Zero Electricity – Debate

Managing the Transition to Net-Zero Electricity (Debate)

Two lively arguments:

The role of gas-fired power plant, by Gordon Taylor (Consultant)

The role of gas-fired power plant in current and future diverse electric power generation portfolio, since the sun doesn't shine and wind doesn't blow all the time.

The role of pumped storage, by Syed Ali (Intergen, Coryton Power Station)

Global electricity storage was 180 GW in 2018, of which pumped hydro was 97%. Unlike hydro-electric generation this is off-river which greatly increases sites and reduces costs. Sites can be identified from satellite data and the best selected.
