Sustainable Materials – Mitigating climate change

Speaker: Dr André Cabrera Serrenho (Research Associate, Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge)

Global material production and energy uses are expected to keep increasing over the next few decades. Yet climate change mitigation will require urgent action at an unprecedented scale. How can we deliver future energy and material demand, while reducing resource use and environmental impact? This talk will reveal the latest developments on sustainable materials to mitigate climate change that have been developed at the Use Less group in the Department of Engineering of the University of Cambridge. This talk will discuss specific challenges on material production and their use in vehicles and buildings, prioritising options to achieve the greatest energy and emissions savings.

Refreshments will be available before the talk from 19:00.
