Vic Leverett OBE
Since graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Physics from Imperial College London, Vic has had over 40 years' experience in Defence, Security and electronics. He has held director-level positions at GEC, Marconi, BAE Systems and currently Finmeccanica. He led the consolidation of the Marconi Defence and Security businesses and their acquisition by BAe, where he developed the sector to a $3bn business and led the transfer to Finmeccanica.
Vic leads a joint UK MoD and Industry R&D Strategy Group, which shapes UK investment in core technologies. He is Chairman of Niteworks, a unique MoD/Industry Partnership developing network-enabled capability.
Vic is President of the Regional Science & Engineering Council which, together with Academia and Industry, promotes STEM – and the UK economy's need for them – in secondary schools.
Vic was President of the Society from 2009 until 2012.
