Would you like to start a STEM Club at your school? Would you like to expand your existing STEM activities? In either case, are you struggling to come up with ideas, find the budget or gain internal support?

If so, then the CSES STEM Club Bursary may be able to help you. This is a fund set up in collaboration with Essex Community Foundation to help the creation and growth of STEM clubs, and we encourage all schools to apply!

Since launching the STEM Club Bursary in October 2014, we have awarded

£7,077.24

to over 19 local schools and STEM Clubs.

See your stories for the amazing things that this has enabled.

What is the STEM Club Bursary?

The STEM Club Bursary is a support package for local primary and secondary schools to help fund the start-up and growth of STEM clubs. Whether it’s starting a new club, introducing a new activity or project, or increasing the number of participants at an existing club, we can help.

Through the Bursary, we provide support that is tailored to your specific needs. This could include equipment/kits, learning resources or mentor/volunteer time – whatever you need to make your project a success. You can see examples of our previous work here.

The Bursary is open to applications at any time (there are no fixed cycles) and, although there are no fixed award limits, we can grant support up to the value of several hundreds of pounds.

How does the Bursary work?

The first step is to apply online via our website.

If you’d like to talk to us first, please contact us by email. We are happy to discuss your ideas with you and help you work out what you need.

Once you have made your application, our team is notified automatically. We will contact you to seek any further information required, to discuss your plans with you, and/or ultimately to let you know whether we can make a grant from the Bursary.

Any support we provide will be tailored to your needs and individually negotiated. Typically, we would purchase any materials for you (rather than distribute cash directly).

If you receive Bursary support, we kindly ask that you provide some feedback on how it helped you (for example, a story to be published on our website).

If you have any questions, please contact us.
